Sunshine Coast Sports

Sunshine Coast Sports (SCS) was founded in 1968 and has proudly served the Sunshine Coast sports community for more than 50 years. It has played an important and valued role in supporting grassroots sports and celebrating the achievements of local athletes on the world stage across all sports; abled and para. Led by a 100% volunteer Governance Board, SCS exists to enable, advocate for, educate, and fundraise on behalf of sport in the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Council regions. Our flagship event, the Sunshine Coast Sports Annual Awards, honours the outstanding achievements of athletes, clubs, administrators, and volunteers across the Sunshine Coast and Noosa regions. Our Play It Forward Bursary Program provides crucial financial support to young athletes experiencing financial hardship, ensuring participation is possible regardless of financial circumstance. In FY2024-2025, these bursaries supported 50 young people with $500 each, who were unlikely to be able to participate without this financial support. We are committed to continuing and expanding our bursary program to increase its reach and impact across the community. All funds raised go towards the running of our Programs in our community. No salaries or fees are paid to any Board Members - they are 100% volunteers. As the ACNC advises that ‘generally, sporting clubs or associations do not meet the legal meaning of charity’, SCS has partnered with Australian Sports Foundation which has successfully gained charitable status and through this partnership people can make a tax-deductible donation to the ASF nominating SCS as the preferred beneficiary.
