Northern Territory Rugby Union

Northern Territory Rugby Union (NTRU) is the governing body for rugby union in the NT, committed to growing and promoting the game across all levels—from grassroots to high-performance. We deliver inclusive and accessible programs that support junior development, community club competitions, school-based initiatives, referee development, and representative pathways. One of our goals is to create opportunities for young Territorians to learn, grow, and thrive through rugby, developing not only players, but confident individuals, strong communities, and future leaders.

A key part of our work includes the NT Rugby Representative Program, which gives talented youth rugby players the chance to compete at national competitions that opens doors to scholarships and higher-level opportunities. We also invest in the development of grassroots referees, offering education, mentoring, and match experience that can lead to officiating opportunities at higher levels, including national championships, mirroring the player pathway provided through our NT Rugby Representative Program for our young rugby players. With high travel costs and limited local resources, fundraising is essential to ensure rugby remains accessible to all.

NT Registration/license number is NT 00592C/IA
