Funds raised from this raffle will go toward Stars of Wollongong which is a community fundraising event for Cancer Council NSW, since commencing in 2015 the event has raised over $1,529,000. Just like on the television show ‘Dancing with the Stars’, 12 prominent Illawarra community members work with a professional dance instructor over 12 weeks to choreograph and learn a dance routine, which they then perform in front of a panel of judges. The dance couples will compete for four awards: Judges Choice Award, People’s Choice Award, Highest Fundraiser and Best Costume. In the lead up to the event and on the evening, the local 'stars' commit to raise money for Cancer Council NSW to go towards our local Cancer Council support services in the Illawarra… which local STAR will be crowned this year’s winner?

It is through events like Stars of Wollongong - Dance for Cancer, that we can continue to provide cancer patients and their families in the Illawarra with cancer support and information services such as home help, transport to treatment, 13 11 20 support line, cancer prevention programs, local advocacy, cancer research and offer access to free financial, legal, and emotional support.
