About Pauline in Bronze
Pauline's story of resilience and determination to become the best surfer in the world in 1993 has captured hearts around the world in a recent documentary, Girls Can’t Surf.
Pauline overcame sexism, homophobia and crippling junior rheumatoid arthritis and we believe this public art overlooking iconic Bondi Beach, will not only celebrate her story, but also encourage and empower future generations of female athletes. ‘If you can’t see it, you can’t be it’.
A life sized bronze sculpture of a young Pauline overlooking south Bondi beach where she learned to surf as a little girl. This stroking artwork will be bold, humble and strong just like Pauline.
Cathy Weizsmann, our artist, has already completed the powerful Adam Goodes sculpture called ‘War Cry’ and the Belinda Clarke sculpture also both in Sydney.
