The Rotary Club of Brisbane, in partnership with Rotary clubs across Queensland, is excited to present this raffle.
50% of the funds raised will support the joint Rotary Club of Brisbane - Kyeema Foundation activity in Papua New Guinea titled “Food Security and income for villages in PNG through village chicken rearing, coral gardening and mangrove replanting”. This project is being implemented in communities in the New Ireland Province to undertake coral reef conservation activities and introduce village chicken keeping and vegetable gardens as an alternative protein source. A major obstacle for the sustainability of conservation projects is compliance among coastal communities, especially if it means short-term reductions in fish catch. The project will address this problem by introducing village chickens as an alternative protein source for fish, which will run in parallel with community-led coastal conservation and livelihood initiatives. The Kyeema Foundation trains Master Farmers in poultry husbandry, coral gardening and participatory community decision making, in order to lead these activities in PNG.
Each Rotary Club organsiation/group selling tickets will keep the other half of the funds raised for their own Club/organisation, to support their chosen Club/organisation activities.
