Pancreatic cancer: the toughest cancer to diagnose, treat and survive.
1 in 4 people won't survive a month. 3 in 4 won't survive for a year.
Pancreatic Cancer UK fund research, provide support and campaign to take on this tough cancer together.
In July 2018 my step-father, John was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which was devastating news to our whole family. We hoped through surgery the affected part of his pancreas could be removed, however the cancer had already spread and the surgery was not possible. He did undergo chemotherapy, however when this affected his quality of life too much he stopped this to enjoy his remaining days as much as he could. In April 2019 in the arms of my mother he left us all. A loving husband, father and grandfather taken from us all too soon. As a fit, healthy and strong man we expected him to be here for many more years to see his grandchildren grow and prosper.
To support Pancreatic Cancer UK I have taken the challenge to run the 2020 BMW Berlin Marathon in October in honour of my step father John Backhouse.
Funds raised through this raffle will be donated to my fundraising campaign which goes directly to Pancreatic Cancer UK. All travel costs associated with this challenge are personally funded.

UPDATE 22nd April 2020. It was announced by the Berlin Senate on April 21, 2020, that all events with more than 5,000 persons will be prohibited until October 24, 2020. Unfortunately, this also applies to the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, which cannot now take place on September 27, 2020, as planned. I will work with Pancreatic Cancer UK and Berlin Marathon to see if my charity runner entry can be transferred to 2021. In the meantime I will continue my training and somewhere, somehow I will complete my marathon challenge later in 2020. I will continue to fundraise for this special cause in hounour of my step father and of course nothing changes with this raffle and awesome prizes. Thank you for your support!
