Namibia has one of the highest rates of maternal death in the world and infant mortality rates are not far behind. Women and babies are needlessly dying from complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
Namibian doctors typically receive no specialist training in the care and treatment of women and babies during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. That often means no specialist obstetricians or anaesthetists available to help women even in large hospitals.
Through education, Health Volunteers International (HVI) is improving safety for women and their babies. We send highly trained Australian health professionals to Namibia to provide clinical education and training to doctors, nurses and midwives, who would otherwise have little access to this professional development.
We are excited to announce that HVI is now launching in Adelaide on Saturday 17th September 2022 from 6pm to 11pm at The Cathedral Hotel in North Adelaide!! This is a ticketed event and space is limited. Please get your free tickets at:
