Hannah’s House exists to support children with life-limiting or complex conditions to live their best quality of life and to provide meaningful support to the family. We do this through in-home respite and care, play therapies, education, and other complementary supports. With the generous support of our donors, we can provide care, comfort and joy to seriously ill children, enabling them to participate fully in home and community life.
Children with a primary diagnosis of a life-limiting or complex condition often causes severe disability and susceptibility to ongoing chronic health complications. Life-limiting conditions are defined as those for which there is little hope of cure and from which children will often die before adulthood.
Living with the unknown and needing to respond to the practical and continuous requirements of caregiving for their child has a profound effect on families. Parents report high levels of personal distress, stress and anxiety in siblings, physical and mental health issues, financial hardship, relationship issues and unmet practical support needs.
Hannah’s House ‘Quality of life for kids with complex needs’ program is a child and family-centred service designed to offer both practical and psychosocial support. Care is provided in the comfort and safety of the child’s home giving parents the chance to take a short break, while also supporting the child to enjoy social and recreational opportunities in the community.
With the support of Hannah's House, seriously ill children to live their best quality of life.
