Border Relay For Life is a community fundraising challenge for Cancer Council. Teams of families, friends and colleagues raise money in the lead up to the overnight event, where team members take it in turns walking around a track to signify that cancer never rests, so neither do we.
The Border Relay For Life is unique due to the ability to annually alternate venues between Albury and Wodonga, uniting the Border Community. In 2021 Albury's Alexander Park will play host to this amazing event. This is one of the biggest Relay’s currently taking place in Australia.
The Relay is held over a 24 hour period to honor the lives of people touched by cancer. Teams are encouraged to camp out overnight, theme their outfits and tents and do something about cancer in the community that is a simple and social way. It’s a great morale building event for families, friends, clubs and work colleagues.
Relay For Life is Cancer Council’s most successful fundraising and signature community event, with 130 Relays taking place nationally this year. Relay’s are an experience that will stay with you forever. The event allows Australian’s to come together, support each other and raise funds for Cancer Council’s lifesaving work.
All funds raised go towards Australia’s leading cancer charity, Cancer Council. Underpinned by research, 61,000 Australian lives have been saved by improvements in cancer prevention, screening and treatment over the past 20 years. But with an estimated 134,000 new cases of cancer expected to be diagnosed in Australia this year, we need every Australian to rally behind us and help continue this vital work.
