Tiny Homes Whitsundays - Homeless Women

Get your tickets and help raise funds to build 4 tiny homes for the charity to rent out at low rates to these women, to give them a chance to build themselves up again, re-skill and get back on their feet again and hopefully move back into the workforce.

We are talking about women who generally through no fault of their own, are being neglected by society, for whom there are no affordable rental options.  It can happen to anyone and very often simply through bad luck.  They are separated from their partners who may have died or left them.   They may have little or no superannuation, no job, low technical skills, and with ageing everyone is prone to bad health.   Mental health becomes an issue with fear, with their sense of hopelessness, threat and very often loss of family.   And of course they have a  lack of funds to see a psychologist or psychiatrist - let alone the long waiting lists in the public system to see these specialists.  So many simply give up!So a group of caring compassionate volunteers living in the Whitsundays, with a number of skills,  have “teamed up” to help these vulnerable women and make a difference.

THE WHITSUNDAY'S IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE WITH AN INVISIBLE PROBLEM

What a crying shame!   Just when you are at the end of your life hoping to enjoy some peace and wind down time, you’re having to face the shame of not having your own personal bed to sleep in and not being able to have your lifelong collection of special possessions surrounding you.  Yes your furnishings, ornaments, family photographs, any jewelry you’ve acquired over the years and your important papers files.  Having no place to invite your friends and family - no privacy and safety - at risk of being raped or murdered for your few possessions.  Maybe you’re sleeping in a tent like many - hidden behind trees by the side of a motorway, or in a derelict property well away from site or perhaps you’re couch surfing or trying to stretch out uncomfortably in your semi reliable car?
