The Manali Medical Aid Project (MMAP) is a charitable initiative founded in 2007 by two University of Queensland medical students. It aims to provide financial support and medical equipment to the Lady Willindgon Hospital (LWH) in Manali, India.
Funded entired by donations, the 55-bed hospital is the only health facility that provides 24hr primary and secondary medical and surgical care to the people of the Kullu Valleu and its surrounding regions. LWH also reaches out to the community through engagment activities and special programs, including clinics, vaccination, nutritional assessment and health education in remote villages.
The 2017 MMAP Management Committee's fundraising efforts are targeted at some areas of need identified by the community and health leaders. This includes contributions to the Poor Paitent Fund, MDR Tuberculosis Fund, Orphanage Health Care, and towards purchasing a defibrillator.
Help us work towards our goal of bridging the inequalities in healthcare in Manali by taking part in MMAP's last fundraising event of the year - CHARITY RAFFLE!! We have some amazing prizes donated by generous sponsors! Ticket numbers are strictly capped to make sure everyone has a fair shot at a prize, so get in quick before we sell out! For more updates, follow us on our Facebook Page.
All proceeds raised by the students goes directly to the Lady Willingdon Hospital. Medical students involved in this project take independent financial responsibility for both administrative tasks and travel arrangements to Manali, ensuring that all donations directly benefit the Lady Willingdon Hospital and the Manali community.
